About Ripley's OG
Ripley’s OG is an evenly balanced hybrid created by Mephisto Genetics from a combination of Alien OG and an unknown Ruderalis strain (we know it was a large auto-flowering strain, but the breeder is keeping it under wraps). You may recognize the name now that you know the strain comes from Alien OG as the protagonist of the film, Alien. Unlike the horror film though, Ripley’s OG is surprisingly sweet and mellow (you’d think it would be brutal!). If you can snag some Ripley’s OG from your favorite California vendor, she won’t disappoint, so long as your expectations are in the right place (we can help with that).
Ripley’s OG acquired the fat, thick leaves of its parent, Alien OG, and incorporated its lush purple and orange colors, with green so dark it looks black in certain light, especially during the later stages of flowering. The strain is an autoflowerer with a great yield (up to 520 g/sq. m) and takes her time flowering for about 70 days on average. The buds are hard and wet with resin (the strain may not taste like an alien, but it oozes like one), squat and compact.
GROWING TIPS: The only things to watch out for are a slightly lower temperature requirement than normal during the night and an average plant height of 110cm – 152cm (over 60 inches!). Unless you have sizable space set aside indoors, consider making this an outdoors-only strain, even though the plant can technically handle it either way.
Ripley’s OG has a flavor that should suit the needs of anyone looking for something mellow and outdoorsy. It has a terpene profile that favors a bright citrus flavor at the onset, with floral, pine, and herb flavors creeping in around the edges. The exhale is earthy with a strong touch of diesel. For those who don’t like a strain that’s too sweet or spicy, this is a good bet.
Its effects are primarily focused on giving you energy and making you happy. Ripley’s OG consumers report feeling giggly, relaxed, and ready to go. We recommend the strain for doing stuff in the afternoon and getting yourself moving, though many users report dry eyes and especially dry mouth. Keep some water on hand before enjoying the giggle-energy of this down-to-earthy gal. So long as you can handle the high-teens THC levels (around 17.5%), the citrus-earth flavor, and the spike of energy, Ripley’s OG is a keeper.
