About Watermelon Starburst

The Watermelon Starburst strain was bred by Lost River Seeds, part of the Neptune Seed Bank in Long Beach, California. They took a male Watermelon Zkittlez plant, a famous sweet strain from Dying Breed Seeds, and a female Sunset Sherbet, the infamous Indica from Cookie Fam, and created this new favorite. The Zkittlez side had the biggest influence on Watermelon Starburst’s growing structure and flavor, as you’ll soon see. This ultra-powerful beauty has a lot to offer if you take the time to see it as more than the offspring of more famous parents.

The Watermelon Starburst strain can be grown outdoors or in a greenhouse. It was never available as feminized seeds, but if you get a cut of the strain, you can expect it to start flowering around 60 days after you plant it. If you’ve grown Watermelon Zkittlez or related strains, you likely know what to expect from your Watermelon Starburst crop, which grows in a similar structure. The plant favors stacked, tall colas that have a lot of hanging buds, with green and purple colors and a dense mess of shiny trichomes.

GROWING TIPS: Not a lot of information is available on growing Watermelon Starburst, but with all those terpene-rich trichomes at your disposal, we recommend investing in a high-quality grinder and thinking about kicking your extract game up a notch with this strain. Separate the buds carefully so you don’t break them prematurely. Use your fingers as little as possible when getting these ready for extraction.

The flavors in Watermelon Starburst favor the profile of its daddy, the famous Watermelon Zkittlez. This means you can expect scents of fruit and citrus that are overwhelmingly sweet, with hints of tropical and earth flavors. Don’t discount its Sunset Sherbet genetics, though, as some phenotypes can come out with more of the mom’s color pattern and flavor. Either way, Starburst goes down smooth and sweet without being too demanding on new users in terms of flavor. The THC levels though, which can reach 28%, should be cause for caution in novice users.

Usage information is scarce on the Watermelon Starburst strain, though we know from sporadic details that the strain causes euphoria, happiness, and calmness to a degree that can help with symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression. Familiarity with Watermelon Zkittlez should prepare you for this strain’s flavors and effects, though we won’t know how Starburst’s reputation stacks up on its own until it’s been around a little longer.
