About Khola

Khola is a heavily sativa-dominant hybrid strain (85/15) created out of the Netherlands from popular favorites – Dutch, Brazilian, and Thai strains. It was bred by Dutch Passion Seeds, Amsterdam-based breeders who have been going strong since 1987, famous for strains like Kerosene Krash, Super Bomb Punch, Dutch Haze, and many more. Sometimes referred to as “Cola,” the Khola strain puts its landrace genetics to work on giving you a hardy strain stacked with spicy-herbal flavors.

The main terpenes in the Khola strain include humulene, phellandrene, and caryophyllene, which are each present in around equal amounts (a little less limonene rounds it out). The result is a strain that has a lot of herbal essences on the inhale, mostly sage and spicy wood, but which continues to evolve its palette over time. Other flavors include sweet berry and grape, mint, cheese tastes, and the flavor of cedar. The strain has a low THC level of around 12% on average, with 1-3% CBD.

The Khola plant grows with a sharp, skunky aroma, like the smell of cut grass and fruit, with elongated green nugs like fuzzy chili peppers. The pistils are dark and orange while the trichomes are fat, white, and cloaked in sticky resin. The strain takes around 7-10 weeks to flower. Outdoor growers should expect a harvest sometime in the 2nd-3rd week of September. Like many landrace strains, Khola prefers a warm climate. The yield of the strain is not reported as being high, though the strain is short, compact, and easy to manage.

The effects of the strain range from slow-building mellowness to relaxing, hunger-inducing sedation. We recommend keeping your use of the Khola strain to mid-day when you can take advantage of your feelings of hunger, stress-free energy, and giddiness. Even arousal can result from using Khola, so being awake is always a plus.

Those who benefit most from Khola are those looking for ways to calm down their nerves and relax the pounding in their head after a long week of work, or to snack and kick back during their time off. Some negative side effects reported included dry mouth and eyes and even a feeling of paranoia. Despite relatively low THC levels, it’s still best to take Khola slowly and see how it affects your mood.
